Ibrahim Dincer is a full professor of Mechanical Engineering at Ontario Tech. University and an adjunct professor at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Yildiz Technical University. Renowned for his pioneering works in the area of sustainable energy technologies he has authored/co-authored numerous books and book chapters, and many refereed journal and conference papers. He has chaired many national and international conferences, symposia, workshops and technical meetings. He has delivered many keynote and invited lectures. He is an active member of various international scientific organizations and societies, and serves as editor-in-chief, associate editor, regional editor, and editorial board member on various prestigious international journals. He is a recipient of several research, teaching and service awards, including the Premier’s research excellence award in Ontario, Canada. During the past six years he has been recognized by Thomson Reuters as one of The Most Influential Scientific Minds in Engineering and one of the most highly cited researchers.

Professor Wei-Hsin Chen received his B.S. degree from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Tunghai University, Taichung City, Taiwan, in 1988, and a Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, National Cheng Kung University in 1993. After receiving his Ph.D. degree, Dr. Chen worked in an iron and steel corporation as a process engineer for one and a half years (1994-1995). He joined the Department of Environmental Engineering and Science, Fooyin University in 1995 and was promoted to a full professor in 2001. In 2005, he moved to the Department of Marine Engineering, National Taiwan Ocean University. Two years later (2007), he moved to the Department of Greenergy, National University of Tainan. Now he is a Faculty Member at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, National Cheng Kung University. Professor Chen visited the Princeton University, USA, from 2004 to 2005, the University of New South Wales, Australia, in 2007, the University of Edinburg, UK, in 2009, and the University of British Columbia, Canada, from 2012 to 2013, as a visiting professor. His research topics include hydrogen production and purification, bioenergy, clean energy, carbon capture, and atmospheric science. He has published over 350 papers in international and domestic journals and conferences with a h-index of 33. He is the editorial member of a number of international journals, including Applied Energy, International Journal of Energy Research, Energies, etc. He is also the author of several books concerning energy science and air pollution. His important awards include the 2015 Outstanding Research Award (Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan), 2015 Highly Cited Paper Award (Applied Energy, Elsevier), 2016 Highly Cited Researcher (Thomson Reuters, Web of Science), etc.

He completed his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering at the Aryamehr Technical University of Technology (now called Sharif University of Technology) in 1975. He moved to the United States to continue his M.Sc.Eng. in mechanical engineering at the University of Arizona.[2][3] In 1983, Haghighat decided to pursue a PhD in Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo.[4][5] Following his doctoral studies, Haghighat worked as an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Research Council.[6]
In 1986, Haghighat started his work as a full-time member of the Centre for Building Studies (CBS) at the Concordia University. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1993, and became a Full Professor in 1999. In 2019, he was made a Distinguished University Research Professor in the Department of Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering.
In 1992, Haghighat founded the International Conference on Indoor Air Quality, Ventilation and Energy Conservation in Buildings.

His research interests include fuel cells, liquid fuel atomization and sprays, and green energy systems, as well as the thermal management of power batteries for electric vehicles. Feridun Hamdullahpur, was the University of Waterloo’s sixth president and vice-chancellor (2010-2021) and has been an engineer, educator and leader over the span of his career in research and higher education.
A professor of mechanical engineering, Professor Hamdullahpur holds a PhD in chemical engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia after earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Istanbul.
Throughout his career, Professor Hamdullahpur has been an active researcher in thermo-fluids and energy engineering, a passionate teacher and an academic administrator. He has authored hundreds of scientific and academic publications and supervised over 50 graduate students. He was named a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering in 2014. He has served in various academic and administrative roles, including as a vice-president academic and provost at the University of Waterloo.
Professor Hamdullahpur was named a Specially Elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) in 2018. This designation recognizes individuals who have made exceptionally valuable contributions to promoting the objectives of the RSC in ways that contribute significantly to Canadian society.
In acknowledgment of Professor Hamdullahpur’s leadership in education and innovation, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in January 2013.
